Project Abstract

FIDIS: The Future of IDentity in the Information Society

Network of Excelence

FIDIS objectives are shaping the requirements for the future management of identity in the European Information Society and contributing to the technologies and infrastructures needed.

FIDIS work is structured into 7 research activities:

  • Identity of Identity
  • Profiling
  • Interoperability of IDs and ID management systems
  • Forensic Implications
  • De-Identification
  • HighTechID
  • Mobility and Identity

INSEAD CALT is the WP2 workpackage leader (definition of the identity of identity)

The objective of WP2 Workpackage is to answer the question, what identity, anonymity and pseudonymity is about according to the different perspectives of the FIDIS participants.
The scope of this work will principally be focussed on the definition of the semantic of these concepts, their usage, and their implication for the individual, the group and the society. This scope will in particular define what is identity, anonymity and pseudonymity and what are the main issues ('the What'), and to a lesser extend how to address them ('the How').
