Project Abstract

EdComNet: A humanistic Urban Communal Educational Net

EdComNet is an educational communal net, a virtual learning community platform for adult citizens to be set up in many regions of the European Union and associated countries like Israel.

The net will act as a portal stimulating the active learning of social skills by the citizen, thus enhancing the social integration of individuals within urban communities. It will empower the individual citizen to be a self-reliant part of society, fostering creativity and autonomous opinion forming as well as decision-making.

EDCOMNET will focus on three aspects of life long learning, one directed to vocational training, one to family life and one to the functioning of the individual citizen in the communal society. The net's contribution to the Community's social objectives will be on two levels: dissemination of humanistic, democratic values in Europe and assisisting the integration of the European citizen into society.

The platform will also contribute to pan-European and intercultural exchanges.
